The Presidential and National Assembly elections in Yola, the Adamawa State capital witnessed an unprecedented turnout of voters on Saturday to exercise their franchise.
As early as 8 o’clock in the morning, voters had already started queuing in their respective polling units.
In all polling units visited like Kofare, Ajiya, Luggere, Dougirei, and Nepa ward, the process went on smoothly except in Capital school polling unit 004, where the BVAS had a technical challenge.
Some voters interviewed commended INEC for the speedy process.
They also prayed for good leaders as the election went on without any chaos.
Radio Nigeria also went round polling units in Nasarawo, Karewa, and State Polytechnic, Yola where voters conducted themselves with decorum.
There was a high turnout of voters during the election with women, youths, Persons With Disabilities, and the elderly exercising their franchise in a peaceful atmosphere.
However, at polling unit 031 Nasarawo, the Presiding Officer complained of voter apathy, saying out of 286 voters on the register, only 108 had voted as at 12:02 pm.
Most of the voters who interacted with Radio Nigeria expressed satisfaction with the entire process, hoping that credible leaders will emerge from the election.
There was no record of security breach as security personnel were stationed at every polling unit and patrol vehicles were seen on the streets and highways to forestall breakdown of law and order.
