Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says he is in support of local government autonomy if done transparently and constitutionally.
The Governor made this known when declaring open the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Program of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)with the theme “Sustainable Accounting and Economic,Social and Governance Reporting” at the banquet hall government house yola .
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri also called for the separation of powers between the office of the accountant general of the federation and the federal government.
The Governor who thanked ANAN for finding Adamawa state worthy of hosting its annual meeting for the second time in his five years in office, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to continue to transform the state into safe haven for investors that will be coming in to do business.
According to governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a lot has changed in the areas of capital and human development and also in physical transparency and management within the accounting system in the state since the last time the association was in the state for its program.
Governor Fintiri called on pressure groups to advocate for the separation of office of the accountant general of the federation and the federal government stating that only 50% of the FAAC allocation is shared, while the federal government alone collects 50%.
Earlier, ANAN President Dr James Ekarare Neminebor said the people of Adamawa state are lucky to have Fintiri as Governor considering his developmental projects in the state.
He described the Governor as a Prudent financial manager who channel resources of the state towards its development and its people.
The Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Program as explained by the President becomes necessary because of the dynamism of the profession.
Dr James said the association’s door is always open in the case of disappointment or unprofessionalism by the accountants who were appointment in the state as it has a disciplinary committee to check mate it members.
He expressed appreciation of the association to the Governor, especially on behalf of the state branch for the untiring support towards its sustenance.
The Chief Executive Officer , Dr Kayden Olushola Fashua, Acting Chairman MCPD Dr Sunday Adewale and The Branch Chairman Dr Titus Obadiah all lauded the Fintiri led administration for changing the face of the state which earned him an honorable membership of the association.
