Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria has announced plans to train about one thousand youths, women, and people with disabilities in Adamawa State.
This was revealed during a news briefing organized by the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS), a World Bank project implemented by Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria, held in Yola.
The training aims to equip unemployed individuals with the skills needed for self-reliance.
Speaking at the briefing, a business consultant from Mentors Hub, Mr. Vincent Umaru explained that the project, initiated by the Ministry of Education and funded by the World Bank through implementing partners, is designed to create employable individuals.
According to him, the project will focus on training one thousand participants in Adamawa State, including youths, women, and people with disabilities, noting that the goal is to have at least 60% of participants be women, 40% male, and 30% drawn from the disabled community.
Mr. Vincent highlighted that the training, which will last for three months, is aimed at promoting self-reliance among the unemployed.
Also speaking, the project Manager of the Mentors Hub, Mr. Olatunbosun Adeniyi, emphasized the focus on digital inclusion, empowering youths, women, and even employees to be more productive in society.
He further noted that they are collaborating with government agencies, private sector partners, and non-governmental organizations both within Nigeria and internationally to ensure the success of the project.
In their remarks, the project’s Technical Support Officer, Cletus Oluju, and Mentors Hub Communication Officer, Mr. Charles Doke, mentioned that stakeholders from government institutions and the media will be actively engaged in the project, and assured participants of their safety throughout the training.
A representative from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Thomas Amos commended Mentors Hub as a critical stakeholder, adding that the government alone cannot achieve its objectives without partnering with organizations like Mentors Hub.
