ADAMAWA NLC SETS FOR NATIONWIDE PROTEST AGAINST TELECOMS TARIFFS HIKE

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Adamawa state Chapter is to participate fully in the planned nationwide protest against Telecoms tariffs hike on Tuesday,4th February 2024.

To this effect,all affiliates of NLC including; Nigeria Union of Teachers, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria,Civil Society Organizations,NUEEN,ASUP,AUPTRE,NULGE,NUJ, Maritime Union,KEKE-NAPEP RIDERS ASSOCIATION,NURTW,etc are being mobilized for a ‘peaceful rally’ as directed nationwide by the national Secretariat of NLC.

The Acting Chairman of NLC who is also the Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Usman Babbada who presided over a high-powered State Executive Council meeting attended by all the affiliates on Monday at labour House Yola called on members to come out enmass for the rally which will start by 8am on Tuesday.

Babbada told the affiliates that the planned protest rally is a directive from the NLC National Secretariat as contained in a letter dated 30th January 2025 and it is important to revert back the Telecommunications tariffs hike as it will add to the burden of Nigerian workers.

However, the leadership of NLC will interface with the State Government, Commissioner of Police,DSS and all other security Agencies to see that the peaceful Protest is not hijack by hoodlums on Tuesday.

Submissions by affiliates during the session urged Federal government to embrace policies that would better the lives of ordinary citizens not harsh economic policies.
