Troops of six Brigade army/Sector three Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with other security agencies, have destroyed a criminal syndicate and arrested members of a terrorist group operating within Taraba state.
This information was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army public relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde.
The operations which took place on the 22nd July 2024 at Galeri and kwondo villages of Ardo-kola and Bali Local Government Areas after an intelligent tip-off led to the arrest of two suspects named Ali Ibrahim popularly known as Yellow and Wetti Alhaji Ibrahim.
Items recovered from the suspects are an AK-47 rifle and 3 rounds of 7.62milimeters special ammunition.
The suspects who confessed to have worked with a known terrorist leader named Kadoko Fun in plateau state also revealed that they act as machineries to other terrorist groups operating in Taraba, Adamawa and Plateau states.
Similarly, troops have arrested eight suspected kidnappers operating in Southern Taraba parading themselves as soldiers dressed in military camouflage.
During a preliminary investigation, the suspects Emmanuel Michael popularly known as Assay, Gabriel Samuel also known as Badoo, Fidelis Lumu Utuna, Edward Ochan, John Orhenbaga, Desmond Agbo, Thomas Ikyar, and Shafiu Shaibu also known as Odogwu revealed that their gang leader was part of a notorious gang known as Gana’s Gang.
Currently the suspects are in custody and items recovered after a search was carried out at one of the suspects apartment include: 10 Military Camouflage uniforms, the sum of Sixty thousand Naira and 30 rounds of 7.62Milimeters special ammunition.
According to the Army, the recent arrests are a testament to their effectiveness, appealing to residents of Taraba state to keep supporting security agencies to ensure lasting peace and security.
