Coalition Organizes 21st Anniversary ceremony in honour of Fombina FM Yola

A group of Civil Society and Community Based Organizations, Coalition of Fombina Organizations, has honoured Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola by celebrating its 21st Anniversary.

The anniversary ceremony was held in the premises of Radio Nigeria Fombina FM, Yola.

Fombina FM 101.5 Yola was established on 24th February 2003.

Founded as Lighthouse FM, the station was later renamed to get it identified with the ancient Fombina Kingdom, the precursor of present day Adamawa Emirate.

With an estimated listenership of 6 million people, Fombina FM Yola covers Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Borno states with clean and clear signal covering up to the northern parts of the Republic of Cameroun.

The station operates in line with FRCN’s core mandate of ‘’Uplifting the people and Uniting the Nation.’’

In appreciation of the broadcast content of the station, the Coalition of Fombina Organizations deemed it fit to organize the 21st anniversary of the station.

Speaking on behalf of the Coalition comprising the Eyes of Arewa, Walawol Gugu, RIFMAN, Media Awareness Initiative for Peace Building, Murya Talaka, Youth Peace Ambassadors, Stop Abusing Youths and I Need to Know Foundation, Boniface Waziri commended Fombina FM for broadcasting impactful content which align with the information, education and entertainment needs of the people.

Past General Managers, Alhaji Musa Waziri Hardawa and Alhaji Abubakar Audu while congratulating the station on attaining 21 years, urged the staff and management to remain dedicated to duty.

They however stressed the need for upgrade of the station’s broadcast equipment and called on the FRCN to assist the station by providing modern equipment to enable Fombina FM maintain its pride of place in the broadcast space.

Earlier in a welcome address, Head of Marketing, Shanti Sashi expressed gratitude to the Coalition, noting that the gesture will spur the station to do more.

General Manager Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammed who thanked the Coalition for the honour, noted that the station broadcasts in the interest of the public and pledged to serve the people better in terms of editorial value of independent, balanced, and interesting content.

Some of the listeners who spoke to Fombina News congratulated and lauded the station for serving people, including those at the grassroots with indepth programming.

Highpoint of the celebration was presentation of award of excellence to the General Manager and to the station.
