Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has been described as a development focused person who has brought the state to the path of urban and economic prosperity.
The Chairman, conference of former speakers of state houses of assembly of Nigeria , Senator Simon Bako Lalong made the commendation in an address during the meeting of the conference at government house yola.
Senator Simon Bako Lalong said the conference wa an opportunity for the former speakers to take stock of their individual and collective achievements,reflect on their challenges as well as review their contributions to the growth of democracy in the country.
Lalong reminded his colleagues that as their number keeps increasing, they should take their roles seriously in engendering good governance, Democratic development and service to the people, noting that the experience they bring to the table is so vital that they cannot fail to lend their voices to crucial national issues that have direct impact on the people.
While advising their younger colleagues who are holding forth as speakers, the Chairman urged the members to take the gathering seriously as he called on all Nigerians to join hands and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has continued to pursue the path of renewing the hope of the nation.
Earlier in his remark ,Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said this is not only a forum of the leadership of the largest law-making organ of the government across all the states of the federation but it is equally a leadership that has over the years, at the subnational level, tremendously protected the democracy from imminent slide at critical periods.
Governor Fintiri said the most interesting thing about the forum is the fact that it is both large and big because it has the numbers as well as the influence to cause any change in the polity and the capacity to exert necessary impact on the politics of the country.
The Governor noted that they have individually and collectively contributed their quotas to the entrenchment and sustenance of democracy and have more to do if they are to transfer its consolidation to their successors.
He reminded them that they must work boots-on to combat the menace of insecurity and engender a peaceful polity,douse tension in the land and deal away with all triggers of conflict and appreciate each other and convert their plurality into strength.
Also in their separate goodwill messages, Governor Ogbonna Francis of Ebonyi and Sheriff of Delta State described the gathering as that of likeminds whose experiences is needed for the development of the country ,giving kudos to their Adamawa counterpart for hosting the conference and giving the state the desired development
Other speakers attested to the developmental strides recorded under the Fintiri led administration in the state.
