DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERY NUMAN PLEDGES MORE WELFARE TO ITS HOST COMMUNITIES

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility , the Management of Dangote Sugar Refinery Numan Operations in Adamawa State has committed to ensure more welfare of its host communities in the state.

 

 

The management gave the assurance during a Stake Holder Engagement Meeting on the challenges, prospects and development within the 2024 year under review which was held in Numan, Adamawa State.

 

 

In an opening remarks, Group General Manager Operations of the Refinery, Alhaji Bello Dan Musa, said the company has gone through different phases of challenges and progress in 2024 projection year, thanking the leaders of the host community for their foresight in seeing the growth of the company and appreciated their different contributions and support.

 

 

Dan musa who however decried the attitude of some unpatriotic members of the communities around, narrated how some of them were caught sabotaging the operations of the company by stealing its properties such as sugar cane in the Savannah and other valuables.

 

 

He equally charged the community leaders to address the issue using their powers as leaders to discourage the attitude and always remain vigilant on the perpetrators of the acts by bringing them to book.

 

 

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Alhaji Dan Musa hinted that despite some challenges and the current economic realities, the company will not relent in its efforts to continue with the people oriented projects embarked upon such as Out- Growers Scheme, Economic support and scholarship for students, adding that plans have been on the pipeline to extend the gesture to building healthcare facilities, schools and other interventions.

 

 

Responding, some of the representatives of the communities that are in the operating zone of Dangote Sugar Refinery such as Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Guyuk and Shellleng, recognized the huge benefits they have always enjoyed from the company describing the gesture as significant.

 

 

They however regretted the inconveniences some of their members caused the company and promised to make amends where necessary to further bond the ties between them and the Dangote Sugar Refinery.

 

 

Speaking also, the District Head of Gyawana Community in Numan which is the immediate host community to the sugar refinery, Mr. Bamaiyi Agoso, said their relationship with the Savannah has been fruitful recognizing some of the initiatives of the company that are impactful to humanity.

 

 

The Dangote Sugar Refinery Quarterly Stakeholders Meeting had in attendance the Management and Staff, Community Representatives, Members of the Traditional Council, Youth Leaders, Religious Leaders and the Media.
