Gov. Fintiri inaugurates National Agricultural Growth Scheme committee

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has inaugurated members of the State Working Committee of National Agricultural Growth Scheme on Agro Public Programmes.

 

 

 

The governor, who was represented by Secretary to State Government, Auwal Tukur during the Inauguration said the committee is established to boost agriculture and socio-economic activities in the state.

 

 

 

Governor Fintiri mentioned the responsibilities of the committee to include mobilisation and sensitization of farmers in local government areas across the state, capitalization, allocations, and supervision of inputs and agricultural activities.

 

 

 

The committee is a prerequisite for the state to participate in the federal government Dry season Programme.

 

 

 

The Chairman of the committee who is also the Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, expressed confidence in the committee, disclosed that the committee will also work to fill the gap in agricultural investment for maximum result.

 

 

 

The committee chairman noted that the federal government effort is to ensure that small farmers in local communities are reached with necessary inputs and assistance.

 

 

 

Professor Jatau appreciated Adamawa state government and further indicated that plans are on the way to issue out facilities for dry season farming by the state government.

 

 

 

Other members of the committee are Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Permanent Secretary office of the SSG, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps Cattle Rangers Unit, National Evaluation Commission, representatives of Microfinance Banks,All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria and Focal Persons of relevant bodies among others.
