Taraba state Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has renamed the remodelled and constructed Taraba state Government House after renowned elder statesman Retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.
The historic event took place at the government house, Jalingo, attracting prominent dignitaries from within and outside the state.
Giving a brief background of the transformation of the Government House since the creation of Taraba state in 1991, Permanent Secretary Government House Administration, Ibrahim Yaboro, said the office of the Governor and his official residence were in a state of disrepair when the Governor assumed office in 2023.
According to him, some of the structures remodelled and constructed by Governor Agbu Kefas includes: Ten offices for Special Advisers, Three modelled security gates, an armoury, a guest house, fire service station, warehouse, a modern canteen, and a banquet hall among others.
Unveiling the remodelled and renamed Government House, which will henceforth be known as T.Y Danjuma House, Retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma applauded Governor Kefas for actualizing such initiative within a short time.
Earlier, in a welcome address, Taraba state Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Alkali said the remodelled edifice is a testament to the fact that the Kefas’ administration is committed to infrastructural development.
He said the governor’s dedication to service serves as a source of inspiration for other leaders across the country.
The deputy governor thanked T.Y Danjuma for his many contributions to the development of Taraba state.
After the unveiling ceremony, Chairman, Taraba state Agriculture and Food sustainability committee, His Royal Highness, Emir of Muri, Alhaji Njidda Abbas Tafida, Taraba Geographic Information Service, TAGIS, Dr. Mark Ma’aku Joshua, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and digital communication, Emmanuel Bello, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Professor Nicholas Namesan, Commissioner for Energy and Economic Development, Engineer Naomi Agbu, took turns to give briefs on the achievement of Governor Agbu Kefas in different sectors of the State.
The event was attended by Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Former and Serving Members of the National Assembly, Traditional rulers, Heads of security agencies and several top government Functionsioneries from far and near.
