Taraba State gov’t hails Nigerian Army for selfless service

Taraba state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has applauded the sacrifices of the army in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

The governor gave the commendation during a special church service at our Lady Queen of peace Catholic cathedral in Jalingo, held in honour of the Nigerian armed forces as part of the 2025 armed forces remembrance day celebration.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, governor kefas recalled that when he assumed office in 2023, the spate of criminal activities in the state was enormous but collaborating with the army in the past 20 months has helped address insecurity in the state.

The governor, therefore, commended both fallen and serving soldiers for their selfless service, pledging that his administration would commit every resource needed to assist the army discharge their duty effectively.

In his message, Catholic Bishop of Jalingo Diocese, Most Reverend Charles Hamawa, emphasized the significance of remembering the Armed Forces, highlighting their dedication to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.

He used the opportunity to call on the government to prioritize the welfare of serving officers and the entitlements of retired officers as well as those who have paid the supreme sacrifice.

In a goodwill message, Brigade Commander, Six Brigade Nigerian Army sector three, Jalingo, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, appreciated the government for its unwavering support, assuring that the army would not relent in serving the nation.
