Nineteen Shops, one mosque razed to ashes at Rimi Market Kano.

An afternoon fire had destroyed nineteen shops, one mosque at Rimi market, Kano municipal local government area, Kano.

 

Eye witnesses reported that, the inferno which occured at about 1pm on Wednesday, wiped out properties worth millions of naira.

 

Confirming the incident, the public relations officer, Kano state fire service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi said their control room received an emergency call at about 01:46pm, from one Ahmad Tijjani, that Rimi market was on fire.

 

He highlighted that, fire fighters from Kano central fire station and Audu Bako Secretariat, succeeded in quenching out the inferno.

 

“They found that, about fourteen (14) parmanent shops, One (1) Mosque and Five (5) temporary Shops engulfed by fire. The area of blaze is about 75 X 50 ft use as Rimi Market shops”

 

The public relations officer noted that, no injury or death was recorded during the unfortunate incident.

 

Saminu Yusif hinted that, investigation has commenced to unravel the mystery behind the disaster.

 

He charged the public to switch off all electrical appliances ,and disconnected from the source when not in use, and avoid careless use of naked fire within the market.
