In efforts to empower women and promote self-reliance, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her office, the Renewed Hope Initiative has provided grants to 1,000 women petty traders in Adamawa State.
Disbursing the grants in Yola, the first lady represented by Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima emphasized that the grants will provide beneficiaries the resources to improve their businesses, their families and the nation.
Hajiya Nana Shettima stressed the importance of economic empowerment programs in supporting women in their entrepreneurial endeavors to enhance their economic independence.
The grant, totalling one billion eight hundred and fifty million naira, will be distributed equally to 37,000 women in the thirty-six states and the FCT through the offices of the governors’ wives.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, represented by his chief of staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, commended the initiative of the office of the First Lady for empowering women and promoting self-reliance.
Governor Fintiri urged the beneficiaries to utilise the grants to improve their families’ livelihoods and contribute to development of the country.
On her part, the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri, expressed her gratitude for the disbursement of the grant to one thousand women petty traders under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
She acknowledged the significant impact the program would have on the future of the country and pledged to support and emulate the leadership of the First Lady in empowering women in Adamawa State.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the first lady for her efforts in alleviating the suffering of women in the country.
