In an effort to stem the rising cases of insecurity in Bauchi, the State Government has banned commercial motor cycle operations from eight o’clock in the evening to six in the morning.

They are now to operate between six in the morning and eight o’clock in the evening effective from seventeenth April, 2026.

Similarly, Tricycle Riders, popularly known as Keke Napep are to operate between six in the morning and ten o’clock in the evening.

This followed the recommendations of the Committee set up by the State Government under the Chairmanship of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Aminu Hammayo.

The development was announced by members of the committee in a Bauchi Radio Corporation, BRC, Special Live Phone in Program.

Members of the committee include representatives of the State Road Traffic Agency, BAROTA, Vehicle Inspection Office, VIO, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NCSDC, Nigeria Police as well as the State Association of Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders.

They also announced other strategies to be adopted with a view to addressing insecurity in the state to include, a guarantor to each and every Commercial rider, NIN based registration, Body Code and Reflective Jacket.

The registration according to the committee is to commence from seventeenth April, 2026 at BAROTA Head Office along Gombe road in the State Capital.

Other offices designated for the registration are the Headquarters and Zonal VIOs offices.

The committee therefore advised those affected to abide by the directives as any one found wanting will not be spared.

Most callers in the programme applauded the initiative stressing that formulation and enforcement of the policy was long over due, considering the rising insecurity and other social vices attributed to some members of Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders in the state.
