The Federal Government has approved the upward review of the Peculiar Allowance for civil servants across all grade levels, to increased take-home pay to reflect current economic realities.

This is in addition to the increase in other allowances, including estacode, duty tour allowance, and book allowance.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, made this known at a news conference in Abuja, describing it as a major step toward enhancing the well-being and dignity of public servants.

Mrs Walson-Jack also announced a Federal Government’s approval of a ₦10 billion housing loan scheme for civil servants as part of efforts to improve housing access.

The initiative, she said, is to be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board

The Head of Civil Service noted that the announcement comes ahead of the upcoming International Workers’ Day, describing it as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to recognising and rewarding the contributions of civil servants.
