Adamawa State Government has reiterated its administration’s commitment to providing enabling environment to improve the livelihood of its citizens in key priority sectors of the State.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this known at a vocational skills training graduation ceremony of one hundred and seventy-five adolescent boys and girls organized by an NGO, Save the Children International with funding from Education Cannot Wait Adamawa State at the government house in Yola.
While expressing delight over the number of its adolescent citizens who benefited from the vocational programs, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by Commissioner for Education, Umar Pella commended Save the Children International for augmenting the initiative of the State government and called on other well meaning individuals and NGOs to follow suit for the benefit of its citizens at the core rural areas.
Earlier in an address of welcome, State Team Lead, Save the Children International, Abdulrasheeed Mohammed, revealed that they have secured additional projects on education, health and nutrition to be implemented in the State, and appreciated the Adamawa State government for providing them with enabling environment to positively improve lives of adolescent children in the State.
In a remark, Acting State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment, Bello Nuhu, encouraged graduands of the program to put into practice skills acquired and also be employers of labor.
A caregiver, Hakilu Sadiq who spoke on behalf of parents and guardians expressed gratitude to the organizers for providing vocational skills to their wards and charged parents to support their children for its sustainability.
Some graduands of the vocational skills program, Naomi Yakubu and Abdulrahman Salihu thanked the Organizations and master trainers for the gesture and gave assurance to make judicious use of the working tools accordingly.
The one hundred and seventy-five beneficiaries who were drawn from Yola South and Yola North local government of Adamawa State were trained for six months on various skills including shoe and leather works, catering, fashion design, carpentering, barbing, computer appreciation and aluminum fabrication.
Highlight of the event was presentation of start-up kits and certificates to the beneficiaries .
