The North East Development Commission NEDC in collaboration with the Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme ASSEP has conducted a two-day in-person training for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM teachers in Senior Secondary Schools across Bauchi State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education Jalaludeen Usman and made available to Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi.
Speaking during the training, the Bauchi ASSEP Focal Person, Hajiya Ladi Hamma, disclosed that 100 teachers were carefully selected from public schools across all the 20 local government areas of the state to participate in the capacity-building training which focused on strengthening STEM education delivery.
Ladi Hamma explained that the objective of the training is to strengthen teachers’competence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, adding that participants are expected to step down the knowledge gained to other teachers in their respective schools.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, who described the training as timely, noted that the initiative is aimed at equipping teachers with modern teaching methodologies and improving science education in the state.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the NEDC and ASSEP for organizing the training, emphasizing that education is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration and external support.
Participants at the training pledged commitment to utilise the knowledge gained and ensure its dissemination to other teachers.
ASSEP is being implemented by Office of the Vice President and the North East Development Commission NEDC across the six state of the Northeast sub region.
