Brigadier General Adamu Umar Abdul has assumed command of 23 Armoured Brigade, succeeding Brigadier General Amechi Agwu at a handover ceremony held at the Brigade Headquarters.
A statement signed by Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 23 Brigade, Captain Olusegun Abidoye, indicated that Brigadier General Abdul, the 47th Commander of the Brigade, commended his predecessor for his successful tour of duty, noting that the commendations he received from superior authorities reflected his diligence, sacrifice and contributions to the Brigade.
He pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor and sustain the standards established during his tenure, while appealing to Brigadier General Agwu to remain available for guidance and counsel.
The new Commander charged Commanding Officers and other officers to demonstrate greater commitment to duty, fortify their locations and strengthen operational readiness.
Brigadier General Abdul, a member of 48 Regular Course, Nigerian Defence Academy, was until his appointment Deputy Military Secretary 1 (Army) at the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary.
In his farewell remarks, Brigadier General Agwu thanked officers and soldiers for their dedication and support during his tenure and urged them to consolidate the Brigade’s operational gains, while pledging to remain available for consultation.
