The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa State Wing, is set to honour nine teachers during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration.
The State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Faisal Mohammed, disclosed this to journalists during an exclusive interview in his office, saying the awardees will be selected from school administrators and teachers across primary and secondary schools.
He said the categories include school administrators, two principals drawn from senior and junior secondary schools, a Head teacher, three teachers from different primary schools, and three others from the secondary school section, making nine awardees in all.
Mohammed explained that the nine intended awardees will be empowered with tangible tools approved for civil servants, adding that the impact will be felt by their respective families.
According to him, about 1,000 teachers across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State will attend the celebration at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.
He said the event will be glamorous and feature a colourful march past, with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, lawmakers, a representative of the NUT National President, and labour leaders from Adamawa State expected to grace the occasion.
The NUT chairman commended Governor Fintiri for prioritizing education through the provision of a conducive learning environment for teachers.
He also praised the Governor for the implementation of promotions for teachers, noting that a committee set up for that purpose will commence work immediately after the World Teachers’ Day celebration.
