Dangote Sugar Refinery, Numan, has launched its back to school medical outreach for students aged five to fifteen years across its host communities in Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Shelleng and Guyuk Local Government Areas.
The launch of the 2026 edition of the medical outreach took place at the Numan General Hospital.
Group General Manager, Community Relations, Bello Danmusa, said the medical outreach is part of Dangote Sugar Refinery’s corporate social responsibility aimed at addressing the health needs of children, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
Danmusa explained that September is the period when schools resume, hence the decision to organise the outreach for students aged five to fifteen years, who will be screened for various health conditions and provided with the necessary medication.
“so what we do here is for diseases that can be diagnosed we do it here and we issue them medication. For those that are beyond here we refer them to come to our clinic where that can have proper medical check up “
The Group General Manager added that the outreach is targeted at all schools within Dangote Sugar Refinery’s host communities in Numan Federation.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Muhammad Chibado Jada, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharmacist Zira Mathias Bubanani, commended Dangote Sugar Refinery for the medical outreach and its commitment to improving the health and well-being of people in its host communities.
“the decision to provide medical screening to children from five to fifteen years is particularly important. Children constitute a significant proportion of our population and their health and educational wellbeing are fundamental to the future of our state “
The Head of the Medical Team, Doctor Tanko, said the medical outreach, which is part of the company’s tradition, is aimed at demonstrating the presence of Dangote Sugar Refinery in its host communities.
He assured the communities of the company’s continued commitment to their well-being.
Also, the Education Secretary of Numan Local Government, Patrick Baute, who represented the council, appreciated Dangote Sugar Refinery for deeming it fit to come to the aid of pupils by providing medical attention and medication to support their well-being.
Stakeholders at the launch commended Dangote Sugar Refinery for the initiative, particularly its efforts to safeguard the health of people in its host communities, especially children, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
The back to school medical outreach, which commenced on September 28, 2026, will end on October 9, 2026.
