The Wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, in partnership with the North East Development Commission, NEDC, has commenced the distribution of tractors, fertilizers and other farm inputs to farmers in the Northern Senatorial Zone of Adamawa State.
The initiative was launched at the Jika Mani Conference Hall in Mubi North Local Government Area, with farmers from Michika, Madagali, Maiha, Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Areas benefiting from the intervention.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hajiya Lami Fintiri said the initiative was designed to strengthen farming activities, increase agricultural output and contribute to food security in the state.
She called on the beneficiaries to use the farm equipment and inputs responsibly and for the purposes for which they were provided, noting that the support was intended to improve productivity and enhance the livelihoods of farming communities.
According to her, the intervention reflects the commitment of the Adamawa State Government, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to empower farmers, promote sustainable livelihoods and create opportunities for economic growth.
Hajiya Lami Fintiri also appreciated the NEDC for its partnership, saying the collaboration would help extend agricultural support to more communities and strengthen food production in the state.
The Chairman of Mubi North Local Government Council, Musa Hassan, welcomed the initiative and commended the First Lady and the NEDC for including communities in the Northern Senatorial Zone among the beneficiaries.
He noted that access to tractors, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs would ease some of the difficulties confronting farmers, improve cultivation and contribute to increased food production.
In a similar vein, the Chairman of Michika Local Government Council, Dan Biyu Tumba, described the intervention as timely, particularly given the rising cost of agricultural inputs.
He thanked the First Lady for the initiative, saying the provision of farm support would assist farmers in the zone to increase production and reduce the financial burden associated with farming.
Some beneficiaries also welcomed the support, expressing appreciation to the First Lady and the NEDC for the assistance.
They said the inputs would help improve their farming activities, increase yields and reduce production costs, while promising to use the materials judiciously.
The agricultural support is expected to enhance farming activities in the benefiting local government areas and contribute to the state’s efforts to improve food security, empower rural communities and strengthen livelihood.
