The Adamawa State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has issued a stern warning to judicial staff, declaring that any officer found demanding payment or enforcing cash conditions for bail will face immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.
In a circular dated August 24, 2026, with reference number ADS/JSC/S63/VOL.1/83, the Commission emphasized that bail is entirely free of charge.
The directive explicitly states that no Judge, Magistrate, or Judicial Staff shall attach a direct monetary condition for granting bail.
Furthermore, no Court official or Law Enforcement Officer is authorized to demand or accept payment for bail.
The JSC called on judicial officers, court staff, and the public to strictly observe the directives.
The Commission warned that violations would be met with severe consequences, including immediate suspension and disciplinary action.
In the same circular, the JSC announced the approval of promotions for eligible staff across its judicial divisions.
The decision was made during the Commission’s 187th meeting, chaired by Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, Chief Judge and Chairman of the Commission.
The breakdown of promotions is as follows: Magistrates Division: 42 Magistrates promoted,
Administrative and Executive Officers & Confidential Secretaries: 26 promoted,
Registrars: 59 promoted.
Area Court Division,114 Area Court Judges and Members promoted,
26 Administrative/Executive Officers promoted and
146 Registrars were promoted.
Sharia Court of Appeal:22 Administrative, Executive, Confidential Secretaries and Registrars promoted while Customary Court of Appeal,23 Administrative, Executive, Confidential Secretaries and Registrars promoted.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the judiciary and ensuring that justice is accessible to all without financial barriers.
