Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said the state is still recuperating from the effects of insurgency in the northeast zone.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stated this when he granted audience to the reconstituted board members and management staff of the North East Development Commission, NEDC when they paid him a courtesy visit in his office as part of their working tour of the northeast zone.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said there are local government areas in the state whose roads and bridges were destroyed by the insurgents.

The governor also decried the attitude of some dubious contractors who failed to deliver some key projects in the state after accepting the contract, which according to him has brought untold hardship on the people.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri thanked them for the visit and commended the commission for projects executed especially in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, General Paul Tarfa retired said the board members were at the government house to introduce themselves to the governor and assured him that the commission will continue with its mandate as started four years ago.

General Tarfa congratulated governor Fintiri over his victory at the tribunal and equally praised him for his efforts in developing the state.

The chairman said one of the mandate of the commission is to cooperate with states in the region in rebuilding the zone which was ravaged by the activities of insurgency.

During the visit, the NEDC donated public address systems to all the local government areas in the state and a compendium containing details of the projects by the commission in the last four years.
