Adamawa State government has approved Special Scholarship for female students across the twenty one Local Government Area of the state.
The Executive Director, Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, Alhaji Adamu Zumo stated this at a news briefing in Yola.
The Executive Director, Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, Alhaji Adamu Zumo explained that the essence of the Special Scholarship for female students is to encourage girl child education in the state.
Alhaji Adamu Zumo said governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had earlier during his campaign in Jada local government area promised to approve a special scholarship package for female students only, stressing that the Special Scholarship will be for students who got good grades in their WAEC/NECO 2022/2023.
According to him, the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund will pick at least one student from each Local government areas of the state.
The Executive Director, Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, emphasized that the female students must come from public schools and will be sponsored only in Nigerian Universities, adding that it is a full scholarship which covers everything for a study period of five years, depending on the course of study.
He pointed out that the portal is already opened from Monday 25th September, 2023, urging the students to apply through the portal for further screening.
Alhaji Adamu Zumo further said the qualification of the students may require the usual five credits including English and Mathematics with a JAMB Score of 180 and above for them to secure admission into any University in the country.
