Commissioner for Health, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwami, says Adamawa State Government has procured Antivenom Serum, ASV, for distribution to designated hospitals across the state, to ensure that snakebite victims access the ASV at no cost.
Felix made this known in Yola, at the flag-off for distribution of two Toyota Hilux van and forty-two motorcycles donated by the Global Fund, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami said the initiative underscores the Adamawa State government’s unwavering commitment of enhancing access to quality healthcare across the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the State and called on health workers to be professional and assured them of the government’s support to compliment their efforts.
Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the vehicles donated to the Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Program and the State AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections Control Program, SASCAP, the Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the vehicles effectively.
Tangwami therefore pledged the Adamawa State government’s collaborative commitment in fostering improvement within the health sector.
In a remark, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Pharmacist Mathias Zira, expressed gratitude to the donors, stressing that the support will significantly enhance access to healthcare services especially in hard-to-reach areas and encouraged the beneficiary agencies to utilize the resources for the purpose intended.
On his part, Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Agency for the Control of AIDS, ADSACA, Dr. Boniface Gundiri reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to enhancing public health initiatives in line with the United Nations’ goal of eradicating HIV and tuberculosis by 2030.
The State AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections Control Program, Coordinator, Dr. Mohammed Bello, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to donors and ensured of judicious use of the vehicles.
The two Toyota Hilux van and forty-two motorcycles donated by the Global Fund, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Welfare was distributed across the twenty-one Local Government Areas of Adamawa State is to strengthen the health sector and meet the healthcare needs of the grassroots communities particularly for tuberculosis patients in the rural communities.
