Adamawa State Government has generated over N17.66 billion as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2023 as against N9.7 in 2019.
Project Coordinator Northeast Multi-sectorial crisis project, Maurice Vunobolki, Adamawa disclose this at a seminar and interaction with stakeholders, with the theme “sustaining Adamawa State’s strategic role in stabilizing national plan in Nigeria” on Saturday in Yola.
He said, was part of the commitment of the state government for the socioeconomic development as well as transforming the state.
According to him, the Growth Domestic Product (GDP) of Adamawa State has also raised $from $3.8bn in 2019 to $6.59bn 2023.
He explained that the achievements recorded through agriculture due to government commitment in ensuring security of life and property that lead peace enjoying in the state in the last five years.
The coordinator said, government has also done a lot in the area of poverty alleviation as the poverty level decrease from 79.4 per cent in 2019 to 74.4 in 2023.
According to him, state government was able to realize17.66 billion naira as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2023 as against N9.7 in 2019.
Professor Kayode Asaju of Federal University Wukari said l, Adamawa State has became a case of study in the country going by series of transformation by Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri.
He said, most of the projects executed in the state has aligned with the national policy for the state development.
Asaju recommended for the state to enhance fiscal autonomy of local Government for more development at the grassroots, improve governance and accountability.
Professor Ijasini Tekwa, described Governor Fintiri as grassroots leader who have all the quality of leadership by focuses on educational development, roads infrastructure, health, workers welfare among others.
He advised that who ever that is becoming Fintiri’s successor most be like for continues transforming the state.
A legal practitioners, Adikwu Gabriel, advised the general public to understand freedom of speech to promote peace and unity for national development.
According to him, it’s high time deal with fiddlers of fake news in the state and country at large to reduce the menace.
In an address, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Maxwell Gidado thanked and appreciated the resource persons and assured to continue contributing for the development of the state.
