Adamawa State Gov’t prosecutes criminals who Vandalize gov’t property.

Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said that perpetrators of vandalization of government properties will be prosecuted immediately.

 

 

 

Governor fintiri during an on-the-spot assessment of the destruction done by hoodlums at the government warehouse yola, the state capital, said about 90 people have so far been arrested and investigation has since commenced, adding that they will be prosecuted immediately.

 

 

 

“ and it was vandalized for not just cause by our hoodlums probably believing it the palliative we have ordered”

 

 

 

Governor Ahmadu Fintir described the incident as unfortunate because the food and non-food items vandalized belong to the National emergency Management Agency, NEMA which is meant for distribution to twenty four thousand beneficiaries that were already profiled.

 

 

 

“ this were food and non-food items including drugs for the vulnerable ones, particularly retroviral drugs that are supposed to be given to our HIV patients”

 

 

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the state government had made arrangements for providing palliatives to be distributed across the 21 local government areas of the state in order to cushion the hardship experienced by the people as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

 

 

 

According to the governor, government will continue to monitor the situation and will be reviewing the curfew hourly and relax it the more as the situation improves.

 

 

 

“If it degenerates further I will close down the state for another 24 hours, but for now we have relaxed the curfew from six to six. And going forward also we would educate our people and enlighten them that from now whatever palliative that are provided is not just meant for people within the metropolitan of jimeta and yola, it is meant for all our people in the 21 local gov’t areas, 226 wards, 4102 units. So we must be brother’s keepers, we must ensure what is meant for all is distributed to all ”

 

 

 

Governor Fintiri commended government officials led by the deputy governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta for the effort made in the timely intervention and curtailing the situation.

 

 

 

He called on the people of the state to be law abiding and go about their normal daily activities as the government concentrates on the governance of the state.
