Adamawa State intensifies campaign against polio and measles.

Children under 5 years of age have been identified as the most vulnerable group in society who, without proper healthcare and vaccination, are at risk of losing their lives.

This was part of the message delivered during a pre-campaign awareness meeting organized by the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Management Agency, which has taken steps to educate the public on polio, measles, and other disease outbreaks across the state.

According to the Director of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization of the agency, David Zakariya, the meeting is a routine exercise that enables the agency to prepare adequately for any upcoming campaign against disease outbreaks, ensuring proper implementation.

Zakariya said the campaign will be carried out in all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State to ensure wider awareness.

He called on parents and caregivers to support vaccinators and health workers in achieving the goal of a polio-free Adamawa.

The director further stated that plans have been put in place to ensure a smooth campaign, as resources and funds have been adequately mobilized.

The outbreak response campaign is expected to take place between the 26th and 30th of April, 2025.
