Adamawa state government has reiterated commitment to partner federal government in securing its six hundred kilometer borders across the nine local government areas that shares boundary with Cameroon.
The Deputy governor of Adamawa State, professor Kaletapwa Farauta, disclosed this when she played host to inter ministerial committee on integrated border governance in her office on Monday.
Addressing the federal government delegation, the deputy governor of Adamawa state, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said the fresh air administration is poised at restoring the integrity of its borders to influence economic prosperity, security, peace and development in the border communities, the state and Nigeria at large.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta regretted that the porous nature of the borders has compromised security and the economy, noting that all hands must be on deck to strengthen it.
The leader of the delegation Dr. Usman Farouq Tarfa had earlier intimated the deputy governor on the mandate entrusted them which is to assess border infrastructure among other related issues.
This according to him is with the view of developing a workable framework to strengthen boundary facilities and improve the well being of the border communities.
Also corroborating, the consultant from the ministry of interior Kabrah Zwingina and the Deputy director Ministry of interior Joshua Ajimalufin said their mandate calls for interaction with the relevant stakeholders to see how best to address border issues and restore its lost glory.
The House of Representatives Ad- hoc Committee on International Boundary Dispute, had earlier visited Yola to investigate moves to cede Sina Kamale Area in Michika local government area to Cameroon.
Led by its chairperson Beni Lar the committee said they were on a fact finding mission to assess the case with a view to ensuring understanding and proffer solution to the land disputes and report to the House, in two weeks.
