Represented by Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, governor Fintiri described teachers as guiding lights and a ray of hope for societal development, stressing that investment in education and motivated teachers is essential to building a better society.

He said teachers deserved more than gratitude and support, noting that the state remained committed to protecting the teaching profession and advancing its status as part of its efforts to transform the education sector.

The theme of this year’s celebration, “Standing with Teachers: 60 Years of Protecting the Profession, Advancing its Status and Shaping the Futures”, was described by the Governor as apt and reflective of the role of teachers.

Earlier, State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Comrade Faisal Abubakar Mohammed, called for greater recognition and support for teachers to enable them contribute to the development of Adamawa State.
