A three-day high level learning event on Emergency to Reliance (E2R) Project organized by BBC Media Action in collaboration with its consortium partners, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), has kick-started in Abuja aimed to review successes, challenges and the way forward.
The E2R Project was implemented in four LGAs in Adamawa which comprises of Madagali, Michika, Yola South, and Numan.
The workshop took place in Abuja.
The engagement brought together about 50 participants drawn from IRC, NRC, JDPC, as well as Adamawa state ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (RRR) and Ministry of Justice.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (RRR), Mr. Bello Hamman Diran, thanked BBC Media Action and it’s partners for organizing the workshop.
He noted that the initiative would further strengthen the activities of the commission and improve collaboration among partners.
Representatives from IRC and NRC, including Mr. Joshua Omar and Dr. Kassim, briefed participants on how the E2R project covers Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and other parts of the country.
They emphasized that protection involves safeguarding human rights and ensuring that people live safely and with dignity within their communities.
The representatives further highlighted IRC’s priorities under the project, which include child protection and addressing gender-based violence in communities across Adamawa State.
The workshop which later went into sessions were divided into key thematic areas including WASH, Shelter, Health, Nutrition, Protection, and Agriculture. Participants also reviewed what has worked well, what did not work, and areas that require improvement to strengthen future interventions.
