A three-day high-level closeout workshop on the Emergency to Resilience E2R Project, organised by BBC Media Action in collaboration with its consortium partners, has ended in Abuja with a renewed call for stronger collaboration among stakeholders.
The consortium partners include the International Rescue Committee IRC, the Norwegian Refugee Council NRC, and the Justice Development and Peace Commission JDPC.
The event brought together key government officials, humanitarian actors, community leaders, and development partners to review achievements, share lessons learned, and discuss strategies for sustaining the gains recorded under the E2R project.
Project Manager Sheda Akashoro and Senior Project Manager Lola Yusuf, both of BBC Media Action, explained that the E2R project has made a significant impact.
They noted that the intervention was implemented in four local government areas of Adamawa State Madagali, Michika, Yola South, and Numan targeting vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement.
They added that government support has been instrumental to the success of the project, emphasizing that BBC Media Action plays a vital role in supporting humanitarian response efforts.
Senior Project Manager of IRC, Diyale Difte, described the initiative as a positive development that has strengthened collaboration among partners.
On the government side, the Permanent Secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of Health, Pharm. Matthias Zirra Bubanani, said the workshop has further deepened collaboration and enhanced understanding of the E2R project’s objectives.
He assured that the government remains committed to addressing the challenges facing affected communities.
The representative of JDPC, Rev. Father Morris Koiranga, stated that the workshop was designed to consolidate achievements and chart a sustainable path forward after the three-day engagement.
The NRC also emphasized the need for continued partnership, improved coordination, and increased community engagement to strengthen resilience in affected communities, particularly in Adamawa State.
Stakeholders at the closeout ceremony called for sustained funding, stronger policy support, and enhanced collaboration among implementing partners to consolidate the progress made under the project.
In her remarks, the Consortium Manager, Winny, thanked all partners for their commitment and contributions to the success of the programme.
Delivering the closing remarks, the Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reintegration, Bello Hamman Diram, appreciated the consortium partners for organizing the workshop and urged all stakeholders to continue working together to end the suffering of vulnerable populations.
