FG Seeks Partnership with Industrialists, Visits Dangote Sugar Refinery Numan

The Federal Government has expressed plans to work with industrialists across the country to achieve its industrialization agenda.

Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh disclosed this. while speaking to journalists shortly after interacting with the management of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Numan, at the factory premises.

The Minister said that with the presence of Dangote Sugar Refinery in Numan, the Federal Government’s backward integration policy on sugar is on the right track, as the company is actively engaging its host communities in the production process.

 

John Owan further stated that the Federal Government unveiled the Nigeria Industrial Policy in February 2026, which encourages and aligns with value addition, emphasizing that active collaboration with industrial players is essential to accelerate this vision.

The Minister also highlighted that the government’s Sugar Development Master Plan, now in its 13th year, seeks to address the country’s sugar needs, wiith the country’s annual sugar consumption at about one point eight million tons.

 

While commending Dangote Sugar Refinery for its commitment to boosting local sugar production, the Minister expressed the Federal Government’s readiness to support the company and other industrialists to achieve the country’s industrialization objectives.

In his remarks, the Vice President of Dangote Group, Mr. Olakunle Alake appreciated the Minister for the visit and pledged to work closely with the Federal Government to implement policies aimed at improving sugar production in Nigeria.

During the visit, the Minister, accompanied by the Executive Director of the National Sugar Development Council, Kamar Bakein, inspected the factory’s farm as well as the sugar processing plant.
