The Fulfulde Presenters Association of NIgeria, Adamawa state Chapter has paid a courtesy visit to Radio NIgeria Fombina FM, Yola, to strengthen collaboration and advance Fulfulde language broadcasting in Adamawa State.
The delegation, which was led by Association’s Chairman Yusuf Ishaku Buba, met with Fombina FM Management and discussed key issues of mutual interest, which include capacity building for Fulfulde broadcasters, preservation of Fulfulde language as well as culture, and partnerships on public enlightenment programmes.
Speaking during the visit, the General Manager, Fombina FM, Yola Alhaji Muhammed Babayo Asha, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the station’s readiness in working with stakeholders to enhance quality broadcasting and community development.
He pledged to connect the association’s leadership with professionals who can provide mentorship and technical support to help the association achieve its objectives.
The General Manager also announced the station’s approval of free airtime for human-interest programmes and news reports produced by the association, noting that this would amplify grassroots voices and promote inclusive public enlightenment.
In a remarks, the Head of the News and Current Affairs Department, Bamanga Abdullahi Gombi, urged the association to prioritize educating young Fulani people on the dangers of drug abuse, describing it as a root cause of many social vices.
He further encouraged members to be proactive in their professional duties and to consistently contribute timely reports to the News Department.
Also speaking the head of programs department, Hajiya Zainab Umar advised the association to re-introduce programmes that would enlighten farmers and herders, with the aim of preventing seasonal clashes between them.
She further urged them to educate young people against involvement in terrorism, kidnapping, and other social vices, and embrace peaceful coexistence.
Earlier, the Association’s State Chairman Yusuf Ishaku Buba said the visit aimed at building a productive relationship with Fombina FM and explore opportunities for joint programmes and professional development.
According to him, the visit also aimed at mutual commitment to sustain cooperation in promoting indigenous language broadcasting and expanding public access to information across communities in Adamawa State.
