Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has unveiled plans to renovate the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Damare.
The renovation aims to create a conducive environment for corps members in the state.
This announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch C Stream II corps members, held at the NYSC orientation camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Governor Fintirir represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Edgar Amos, emphasized the importance of the orientation course in preparing corps members for national development.
He urged corps members to take the training seriously, build lasting relationships, and maintain positive interactions with their host communities.
Governor Fintiri also highlighted Adamawa State’s favorable climate, which attracts entrepreneurs.
He encouraged corps members to explore these opportunities during their service year and consider themselves part of the community.
The Governor advised them to immerse themselves in the culture and maintain healthy relationships.
Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Wali Yakubu, expressed confidence that the corps members would enjoy their stay in Adamawa.
He encouraged them to participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The Adamawa State Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Ateli Samson, thanked Governor Fintiri for his generosity, including donations and increased allowances for corps members.
The Adamawa State Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members during the ceremony.
About one thousand seven hundred corps members have registered so far in Adamawa State.
