Member of the House of Representatives representing Oshodi/Isolo II, Federal Constituency, Lagos, Mr Jesse Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, has filed a petition against an individual named Ajayi Samuel Crowther for impersonating him.
The petition, which was submitted through his legal representatives at Okpoko SAN and Associates, was addressed to the Divisional Police Officer at the National Assembly Complex in Maitama, Abuja.
In the petition, Onuakalusi explained that Ajayi Samuel Crowther was a former aide who had been dismissed from his position.
However, in April 2024, the lawmaker was contacted by the Embassy of the Republic of Taiwan regarding a letter allegedly written by him on behalf of Crowther, nominating him for a training opportunity in Taiwan.
Upon reviewing the letter, Onuakalusi discovered that it was forged, as he had not written or signed any such document.
He promptly contacted the Taiwan Mission in Nigeria to deny his involvement in the letter.
The petition emphasized the seriousness of forgery, impersonation, and misrepresentation, calling for Crowther to be investigated and held accountable for his actions.
The lawmaker requested that the authorities interrogate Crowther and determine if there were other fraudulent activities conducted by him.
Onuakalusi urged the authorities to treat this matter with the utmost seriousness and ensure that the perpetrator faces the appropriate consequences for his criminal behavior.
