The Modibbo Adama University Business School, Yola, Adamawa State, has held its maiden international conference, 2026 with a focus on Business innovation, sustainability and digital transformation for inclusive economic development.
The conference brought together academics, business experts, policy makers and other stakeholders to deliberate on innovative approaches for sustainable business practices and ways of promoting inclusive economic growth.
Declaring the conference open, the Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Professor Ibrahim Umar, said the conference provides an important platform for promoting innovation, sustainability and inclusive economic development.
He stressed the need for universities to strengthen research, entrepreneurship and partnerships with government and the private sectors, urging participants to translate ideas from the conference into practical solutions that can support businesses, create opportunities and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the conference, the Director-General of the Adamawa State Debt Management Agency and Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Professor Ibrahim Danjuma, said the conference provides an important platform for exchanging ideas and developing practical solutions to economic challenges.
Professor Danjuma noted that in the face of current fiscal pressures and dwindling revenues, prudent debt management and innovative economic strategies have become imperative for states to remain viable and meet the expectations of citizens.
He added that the conference was deliberately designed to bring together policymakers, academics, and industry players to craft home-grown, sustainable models that will drive inclusive growth and economic resilience in Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.
Also speaking, the Director of MAU Business School, Professor Bashir Ahmed Daneji, said the institution remains committed to providing knowledge and skills that can contribute to business development and sustainable economic transformation.
The conference also featured discussions on entrepreneurship, sustainable business practices, innovation and economic transformation, with participants stressing the need for stronger collaboration among government, academia and the private sector to achieve inclusive economic development.
