Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 64th independence anniversary, acknowledging the challenges faced during its journey to nationhood.
Governor Fintiri noted that despite these hurdles, Nigeria has made significant progress, particularly since its return to democracy 24 years ago.
In a press statement issued by the governor’ Chief press secretary Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri emphasized the need for self-reflection and collective responsibility to address the country’s weaknesses.
He stressed that success can only be achieved by accepting responsibility for actions and rejecting the victim mentality.
“Some of these weaknesses are within our means to correct, but we will only succeed if we are brave and honest enough to accept responsibility for our actions and reject the convenient attitude of playing the victim and blaming others.”
Fintiri reassured that his administration remain committed to leaving no one behind and ensuring that every Adamawa citizen benefits from these efforts.
“I commend you all for reaching this milestone, surviving pitfalls, and regaining dignity through democracy. Though 64 years is brief for a nation, we’ve had time to make significant changes” he said.
” Regrettably, unpatriotic acts and injustice have undermined our progress. We must accept responsibility and reject victimhood”.
Fintiri reassured that his administration will continue empower Adamawa citizens through human capital development and infrastructure investments, boosting the economy, and improving living conditions.
On the current hardship in the land, Governor Fintiri said he have hope in Nigeria’s future.
” Let’s work together to provide good governance and democracy dividends.”
According to the governor, as Nigeria celebrates its 64th independence anniversary, the new thinking of the Government serves as a reminder of the country’s potential for growth and progress.
“Let us unite in supporting the government’s initiatives and work together towards a brighter future.”
The Governor commended the security agencies for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and order in the state.
He explained that that his administration’s peace initiatives are aimed at promoting harmony and understanding among citizens as he urged the people not to compromise the hard earned peace.
