The Northeast Development Commission NEDC has presented food and non food items to Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency ADSEMA and other organizations in the state as part of its effort to cushion the effect of the economic hardship on the people.
Food and non food Items such as rice, vegetable oil, spaghetti, mats and wrappers were shared to Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, women groups, faith base organisations, civil society groups, persons with disabilities among others.
The Managing Director of the commission, Muhammad goni alkali represented by the Acting coordinator in Adamawa state,fatima Bakari equally handed over agricultural machineries and processing equipments to the state food security committee which included 16 rice mill, 8 oil press machines, 35 walking tractors, 35 trailers, 20 rotary tiller, 30 planters and harvesters, 21 threshers, 40 ridgers, disc plough, fertiliser among others
The commission has also trained over 400 youth in various fields on renewal energy and solar instillation, climate change adaptation and awareness campaign, use of energy efficient stove, fabrication of energy efficient stove, waste collection and recycling as well as water shed management training.
The trainees were presented with starter packs to enhance their productivity.
The commission has also in collaboration with the Adamawa state government embarked on dissilting and evacuation of 60,000 meters of drainages as part of its effort to curb flooding and indiscriminate waste deposits in gutters and water ways
