Well-spirited individuals, development partners, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been called upon to collaborate with the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to support more vulnerable groups and internally displaced persons (IDPs) across the state.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Echuseh Audu made the call while briefing newsmen on the activities of SEMA in Jalingo the Taraba State Capital.
According to Dr. Echuseh, the activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East, as well as natural disasters, particularly flooding, have left Taraba State increasingly vulnerable and overstretched the limited resources provided by the state government and donor agencies.
She further stressed that, as one of the most sensitive agencies, SEMA has so far distributed relief materials to over 50,000 IDPs and other vulnerable victims affected by flood disasters across the state.
Dr. Echuseh also urged residents of Taraba State to disregard reports in some sections of the media questioning the management of relief materials, assuring that SEMA, under her leadership, remains committed to serving the people with transparency and efficiency.
