In an effort to carry the youths along in his administration, Taraba state governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has convened a meeting to interact with youth delegates from the sixteen local government areas of the state.
The town hall meeting, which took place in Jalingo yesterday, was attended by youth representatives, chairmen of the sixteen local government areas of the state and other key stakeholders.
Governor Agbu kefas said the meeting was convened with the purpose of interacting with youths to know exactly the challenges they would want government to solve in order to reduce youth restiveness in the society.
Pointing out their relevance in the state, he assured them that 80 per cent of his development plans for the state will be in their favour and for their growth.
He pleaded with the youths to be patient, while the government works out necessary modalities to address their concerns accordingly.
Taking turns to voice out areas of concern, the youth representatives said they want the government to create vocational centres in each local government area of the state, address insecurity and electricity challenges in certain communities, provide mechanisms to boost irrigation farming, revive the Gashaka Gumti National park, establish a youth trust fund and youth development commission which will attract development partners.
Others include construction and rehabilitation of road networks across the state, resuscitation of dilapidated health facilities, and establishment of tech hubs, among other needs.
Also speaking the secretary to the Taraba state Government, Gebon Timothy Kataps, who highlighted some of the steps taken by the government to tackle some problems emphasized that the Kefas administration has invested so much in security and would not rest on it’s oars in tackling the concerns mentioned.
In a closing remark, Governor Agbu Kefas promised the youths that he would swiftly draw an action plan to address the issues raised.
