Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has declared College of Education, Zing a training centre for teachers across the state.
The governor made the declaration during the combined convocation ceremony of the College in Zing, Zing local government area of Taraba state.
Since he assumed office as the governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas has continued to take steps towards providing quality, affordable, and accessible education for all.
With the declaration, the governor noted that henceforth, the college will be a learning hub for teachers in the state who are already teaching in primary and secondary schools.
He asked the management of the college to work out modalities, which will further empower the college to equip teachers who would be sent to the institution for specific training.
The governor said as he continues to prioritise education, which is the bedrock of development, he would not tolerate any act of sabotage by anyone.
He described the combined convocation ceremony as a historic one, emphasising that from now on, the college and all other state owned institutions must conduct their convocation annually.
Governor Kefas congratulated the grandaunts on their convocation, charging them to embrace the spirit of service while positively impacting the lives of people.
He applauded their dedication, resilience, and hard work towards their studies while on campus, urging them to be champions of progress wherever they find themselves.
Governor Kefas equally commended the management and members of staff of the college for training many who have become exceptional teachers, leaders, and change makers in the society, encouraging them to remain relentless in providing quality education to every student under their supervision.
Earlier, Provost of the College, Professor Ejika Sambo, who thanked governor Kefas for honouring their invitation, said the college has enough man power and has been accredited to train youths to become qualified teachers.
He said in honour of the governor’s commitment to transforming education in the state, the management of the college, agreed to name the institution’s CBT centre after him.
The grand convocation ceremony conferred on 19,700 graduates who completed their studies between 1994 and 2023 certificates of education.
