Over hundred Serving and retired Teachers in Adamawa state have asked the State House of Assembly to intervene in what they described as ejection plot from their respective residential quarters across the state by “Taskforce Committee of Retrieval of Government Quarters” constituted by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

 

The said affected Teachers who addressed Newsmen in Yola the Adamawa state capital lamented that the short notice pasted on the entrances of their houses have been traumatizing them and their families hence the need for Government to soft-peddle the ejection or offset their backlog of gratuities to enable them build an alternative houses.

 

The Teachers who spoke separately through their leaders Mr. Monday Dickson and Salihu Buba Wokemso noted that non of the Teachers has never benefited from the ‘owner occupier basis’ of government quarters since its introduction by former Governor Boni Haruna.

 

They both appealed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration to build more quarters or Teachers village,but ejecting them would not be in the interest of peace and harmony.

 

According to them, the Committee of Retrieval of Government Quarters headed by Mr.John Vandu has recently served notices to staff occupying quarters at boarding schools across the state.
