Yobe Gov’t Supported Farmers with Fertilisers, Seeds To Improve Farming Activities in the state.

As part of the efforts to improve farming activities, the Yobe State Government has launched the distribution of fertilisers and improved Maize seeds to the flood-affected Farmers in 2022.

Flagging off the distribution at Katarko Community in Gujba Local Government, the Yobe State Commissioner of Ministry for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, said the early distribution of the farm input is part of the measures taken by the Yobe State Government to equip the farmers to prepare and participate in the 2023 cropping season effectively.

Dr Mairo Amshi who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Musa Abba Kolere, pointed out that one hundred people are to benefit from each locality of all flood-affected Local Government Areas as directed by the Governor Mai Mala Buni

The Commissioner explained that the beneficiaries of the programme were selected based on the assessment conducted after inspecting the affected areas by the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and submitting the list of the affected persons for government intervention.

She further called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items received for the purpose intended.

The Executive Secretary of the SEMA, Dr Mohammed Goje who was represented by the senior staff of the Agency Musa Yunusa, assured that no registered person will be left out.

He added that the items distributed include two bags of 50kg of fertiliser and one bag of 10kg of improved maize seeds.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mallam Umar Muhammad and Shettima Salisu have expressed appreciation for the government intervention and promised that all the items provided will be put to proper use.
