Northeast region wining war against terrorism

Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said that the northeast region is winning the war against terrorism.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stated this while declaring open, the ninth edition of the northeast governors forum held the banquet hall, government house Yola.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the governors of the northeast region have collectively set developmental agenda that has changed the ugly narrative of the region for the better.

 

Governor Fintiri stated that internally displaced camps in the region are now empty as families and other displaced persons have returned to their homes and continued with their normal day to day activities.

 

According to the governor, the decision by the governors of the region four years ago to be meeting has indeed yielded positive result

 

The governor congratulated them for coming out of the elections as well as victories at the tribunals, which he described as a testimony that the governors are working hard and the people are happy with that.

 

He therefore wished them successful deliberations for the growth and development of the northeast region.

 

In his remarks, the chairman of the northeast governors forum and governor of Borno state, professor Babagana Umar Zulum Said the essence of the governors forum meeting is to interact and deliberate on crucial issues that have direct impact on the people of the northeast sub-region, emphasizing that the challenges facing the people are enormous, hence the need for the collaboration of the governors under this forum in order to address them.

 

Governor Zulum urged the governors to come together in order to find ways and means of safeguarding regional peace and security.

 

Meanwhile, as part of events to mark the opening of the ninth edition of the northeast governors’ forum, a gala night was organized in honor of the visiting governors.

 

In her remarks during the event, the deputy governor of Adamawa state, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta described the gala night as an opportunity to appreciate the rich cultural heritage in the northeast, which she said is an indication that the zone is fit to lead the country when the governors and the people work together.

 

She therefore called on the governors, irrespective of their party affiliation to put the interest of the zone first and come up with decisions that will be beneficial to the growth and development of the zone.

 

Earlier in his welcome address, the secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Auwal Tukur Said Adamawa state is indeed delighted to host the north east governors who are in Adamawa state to deliberate on issues that will bring development to the zone and the nation in its entirety.

 

He therefore welcomed them and wish them successful deliberations while they enjoyed their stay in the state.

 

Governors who trooped Yola, the Adamawa state capital for the meeting includes , professor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State , Doctor Agbu kefas of taraba state and Mai mala Buni of Yobe state, while governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state was the host

 

Highlight of the gala night was cultural dances and exchange of pleasantries amongst dignitaries.
