A Human Rights Activist and President of ‘Progressive Mind for Development Initiative’ in Adamawa state, Comrade Abubakar Abdulsalam has confirmed that Kofa-Lamorde Village in Malabu, Fufore local government area of Adamawa state has a population of more than five hundred children but has no primary school structure.
The Activist said, the village used to have a primary School that operated without classrooms except shades provided by trees in the school premises with only two Teachers,who stopped coming to teach three years ago either due to transfer or retirement from service, adding that since then,no teacher has been posted to the school again to teach.
Abubakar Abdulsalam therefore called on Adamawa state Government to consider the plight of parents and children in the community by providing them with free Basic Education as being enjoyed by chicken in other parts of the State.
One of the residents of Kofa-Lamorde Village,Mr.John Philemon said for the past three years, their children have not been going to school, expressing sadness that the future of these children are in jeopardy if nothing is done fast to address the situation.
Another resident of the community,Ruth Dauda said it is not only the children’s future that is at stake but also that of Kofa-Lamorde community because leaders may not emerge from the area and no body will speak up for them.
She also called on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to extend the free and compulsory primary School education to the community,acces road and other social amenities.
Authorities concerned according to the Human Rights Activist should act expeditiously in considering the plight of Kofa-Lamorde Village in Malabu, Fufore local government area of Adamawa.
