The House of Representatives has directed the Federal Ministry of Works to track down the contractor handling the construction of Jibiro-Sorou-Belel road in Adamawa state to mobilize back to site with a view to completing the commercial road linking Nigeria and Cameroun Republic.
To expedite more action, the House of Representatives also mandated it’s Standing Committee on Works to probe the work as a whooping sum of N26Billion contract was awarded to the contractor and funds were released but to no avail.
This action follows a motion moved by the Member representing Fufore -Song Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Barrister Wakili Boya during plenary.
In his submission, the Federal Lawmaker petitioned that the work on the road was abandoned for about 7years now despite released of funds and the economic importance of the road linking Nigeria and Cameroun Republic.
Boya further lamented that vehicles plying the boarder road suffers consistent breakdown while locals are passing through untold hardship due to dilapidated nature of the area.
Boya who is also the House Standing Committee Chairman on Federal Colleges of Education and other Related Matters asked the House as a matter of urgent public importance to mobilize the contractor back to site and track frivolity if any.
He assured his constituents of proper representation for a flourishing democracy and development.
