As part of activities marking this year’s 16 days of activism to end Violence Against Women, the wife of the Adamawa state governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, led a symbolic road walk from the state low-cost to the blind workshop, calling for an end to all forms of violence against women and girls.
Leading the road walk, Hajiya Lami Fintiri lamented the global toll of gender-based violence, stating that a woman loses her life to violence every ten seconds.
She emphasized the need for unity to end violence against women and girls, urging the community to stand together against gender-based violence.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Nedo Kufolto, also emphasized the importance of raising voices against gender-based violence in the state.
The theme for the 2024 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is Tracing the Roots, Standing Against Gender-Based Violence.
