Adamawa State government has acknowledged efforts by the Nigeria Air Force to rid the country of all criminal elements and improve security across Nigeria.
Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, made the acknowledgement at the 2023 Air Force Annual Socio-Cultural activities held at Nigeria Air Force Base in Yola.
Adamawa state deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, explained that due to their resolve to rid the country of all insurgents, terrorists, armed banditry and other criminal threats, Adamawa State is now enjoying relative peace compare to other states.
The Deputy Governor, however, said despite the relative peace being enjoyed in Adamawa state and other parts of the country, insecurity still poses serious threat to the economic growth and development as well as peace and security of the country.
Professor Kaletapwa therefore emphasized the need for security agencies to consciously show restraint in dealing with the civil populace while conducting operations, so as not to infringe on their fundamental human rights.
She also commended the officers, Men and Women of the Nigeria Air Force Base Community and the Base Commander for successfully hosting the event.
The Nigeria Force Base Commander in Yola, Air commander Yohanna Audu Katabiya, said the annual sicio-cultural activities is aimed at celebrating cultural diversity in the armed forces.
According to him, the event showcases activities meant to encourage socialization among the Nigeria Air Force personnel, adding that it is usually organized at the end of every year to foster unity among all cultural groups to enable them display their cultural identity.
The Commander gave kudos to governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support to security agencies in the state, lauding the existing synergy between the security agencies which he said has continued to yield positive results.
There were Tug of wars between women police and Air Force Women as well as men of the Nigerian Army and the Air Force.
Also, there were Cultural performance by different cultural groups as well as other competitions, displaying of Marshal act among others.
Presentation was made to the deputy governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta by the Air Force base commander, Yola.
The event also featured the beating of the retreat and lighting of camp fire wood.
