Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has advocated diplomatic community deployment of more support to Sukur Kingdom, the first world heritage site in Nigeria.

The Governor made the call on Monday when he received the Ambassador of Philippines to Nigeria Rodrico Atienza who was on a working visit to the state.

The Governor urged for capacity building and other supports to make the site more attractive in order to boost the tourism sector in Adamawa state and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said, going forward, the state government will continue to ensure adequate provision of all the necessary infrastructure that will improve the Sukur World Heritage site.

The Governor expressed hope that the Ambassador’s visit will usher in more support, particularly in the area of education, to having better schools among other things at the site.

He lamented how teachers in the state are declining posting to schools in Sukur village but expressed government’s commitment to provide equal opportunity for the children there.

Earlier in his remarks, the Philippines Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Rodrico Atienza noted with satisfaction his experience when he visited the Sukur world heritage site for the first time.
